Following wrap of production of this episode and in collaboration with the CW’s production department, Joy’s since been asked to create a second gown.

The CW production team recently hired Joy to produce a custom wedding gown for their hit show, Beauty and the Beast!

Robert Pearce had Joy create a hand-made First Nations jacket replica to wear to the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Michael Lee-Chin Crystal opening in June 2007.

The jacket was made of dear-skin leather and covered in a hand-beaded “flag” back-piece, which took a total 360 hours to create.

In thanks, Mr. Pearce hosted a party at the ROM’s (then) new C5 restaurant with Joy as the guest of honor (pictured above).

CBC - Ouest Side Story, Home-Made Television (1975)

Ohh the 70s! Those were the good ol’ days where Joy began working (originally) as a costume-designer following her graduation from Sheridan’s Fashion-Technique and Design program. She graduated at the top of her class with fellow alumni Wayne Clarke and Linda Lundstrum.

In the days where television still had costume departments, she worked on very tight budgets and even tighter deadlines. At some point, you’ve likely seen some of Joy’s work on TV where she worked at CBC and CTV in 1972-1978 and 1979-1985, respectively.

At CBC she worked with 12 year-old Mike Myers (on Range Rider and the Calgary Kid), Gilda Radner (on Jacks), and Juliette (on Our Pet Juliette).

CBC - Home-Made Television (1975)

At CTV Joy was the costume designer for Ronnie Hawkins (on Honky Tonk) and worked on shows including Circus, Fantastic Miss Piggy Show (by Jim Henson) and several ice shows including Romeo and Juliette and the Nutcracker.

Freelancing for Global, Joy worked with Tom Jones (on the Tom Jones Show) where she had the opportunity to dress stars including Donny and Marie Osmond, Tina Turner and Paul Anka.
